Interview with Phebe Brown: Where Pharmacy and Finance Connect

Phebe Brown,

Head of Administration at Universal Finance

As well as being an essential part of the UF team, Phebe is also a pharmacy student at Queen’s University. We chatted about her passions, her daily routine, and why she believes financial advice matters for young people.

In this edition of our “Meet the Team” series, Sarah Arrell sits down with Phebe Brown, Head of Administration at Universal Finance.

Sarah: Phebe, thanks for joining me! Let’s start with life outside of work. What do you enjoy doing in your spare time, did you get up to anything exciting this summer?

Phebe: Thanks, Sarah! When I’m not studying or working, I really enjoy spending time with my friends and family. Between those things and my pharmacy course, there’s always plenty to keep me busy, but I really enjoy it. This summer I visited my aunt and uncle in Vancouver, which was lovely, also managed to squeeze in a skydive on the Island - definitely a highlight of the trip!

Sarah: Wow, that sounds amazing! With so much going on, how do you balance being a student at Queen’s University with your role here at Universal Finance?

Phebe: It’s definitely a challenge! It takes a lot of organisation, but I enjoy the variety of work. A typical day might include lectures or lab work at university, followed by a few hours supporting clients and the team at UF and then something fun in the evening. It’s a good balance: studying pharmacy keeps me academically engaged, while UF gives me the chance to work with people in a really practical way.

Sarah: What do you enjoy most about working at Universal Finance?

Phebe: Honestly, it’s the people. Everyone here is very supportive, professional, and they genuinely care about our clients. Even as a student, I feel like I’m making a difference, which is really motivating. I’ve really enjoyed the chance to learn more about finance, something I knew relatively little about before I worked here, it’s a useful skill to have no matter what your main career path might be in the future.

Sarah: Speaking of finance, why do you think financial advice is important, especially for young people?

Phebe: It’s like anything in life, the sooner you start to build good habits, the sooner you see progress and growth. I love telling other young people about our company because good advice can set you up for long-term stability and success. At UF, I’ve seen firsthand how valuable it is for people to have that guidance early on.

Sarah: That’s a great perspective. Any final thoughts?

Phebe: Just that I’m grateful to be part of Universal Finance. It’s not every day you find a workplace where you can grow professionally while you’re still a student and where you’re surrounded by people who really want the best for clients.

Liam, Director: “Ever since Phebe joined us in the summer of 2024, she has been an amazing support and encouragement. We are so thankful to have her as part of the team.”

✨ Thank you, Phebe, for sharing your story! At Universal Finance, we’re proud to have a team that combines expertise with fresh perspectives, helping clients plan confidently for the future.
